Snow Cone

(Upper Yosemite Falls)

Yosemite National Park

Snow Cone (Upper Yosemite Falls), Yosemite National Park, California

The most beautiful place on the planet (but then again, I'm prejudiced). This is the upper portion of Yosemite Falls, the highest waterfall in North America, with a total drop of 2400 feet [730m]. The large cone visible beneath the waterfall is caused by mist freezing as it falls. In fact, this snow cone won't melt until spring thaw. This sunny day in late February has the cliff tops mysteriously shrouded in fog.
